Fiji Prime Minister Meets with Senior Shanghai Officials

The City of Shanghai in China has the potential to add numbers to Fiji’s tourism arrival figures says a top China Government official.

The Chairperson of the Shanghai People Congress’ Ms Yin Yicui met the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in China and commended the Fijian Government’s reforms in particular its position towards improving the lives of ordinary Fijians. At a luncheon hosted by the Senior Shanghai Official, she pointed out that Shanghai has the potential to be a source market for Fiji’s tourism industry as their citizens also enjoy holidays outside China.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Ms Yin to commend the growth of the Fiji-China relations.

The head of Government is in China to meet with senior investment officials including those that have existing projects in Fiji.

Before departing the country, he also met with Lieutenant General Wang COS of the Peoples Liberal Army who was in the country to meet with the Fijian Defence Minister Joketani Cokanasiga to look at ways of cooperation between the two countries.
