Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama today presented awards to staff of the Public Service Commission, recognising their outstanding work this year.

The head of government, who is also the Minister for the PSC, was also presented with awards that the PSC received from the Service Excellence Awards and the Fiji Business Excellence Awards this year.

Commending the Prime Minister for his encouragement and relentless support, the PSC deputy secretary Iliesa Lutu said that the head of government has been a consistent advocate of service excellence.

“You always reminded us that as a public servant, we need to understand that our actions or inactions can determine how well or badly we do as a nation,” Mr Lutu said.

“There are basic economic implications of our actions, particularly in the manner in which we interpret rules and regulations and in the process if we become bureaucratic.

“I am pleased to say that our journey for civil service excellence has helped us change that attitude and become more forthcoming and facilitatory.”

The PSC staff that were awarded today include Mohammed Hanif, Vatemosi Delailovu, Misau Fasala and Jale Ratudoi.

The PSC was this year recognised in prizes category for the Fiji Business Excellence Awards and Service Excellence Awards.
