SPEECH: HON. PRIME MINISTER JOSAIA VOREQE BAINIMARAMA BRIEF REMARKS AT RECEPTIONS FOR DELEGATES ATTENDING THE 29TH SESSION OF THE ACP-EU JOINT PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY

Bula vinaka and a very good evening to you all.

It has been a long day of a great many statements and a great deal of speechmaking – including on my own part.

So this is simply to welcome you all here again on behalf of the Fijian Government and the Fijian people and to wish you all a pleasant evening of Fijian hospitality.

We’re extremely proud – as I said earlier today – to be hosting more than three hundred of you from the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific states – all of you honoured guests in our country.

I spoke today of the vibrancy and diversity of our great partnership and that diversity is wonderfully displayed tonight in a dazzling array of national dress. It’s a tremendous sight even for those of us with colourful national dress of our own.

This event comes after a day of very hard work on the part of everyone so I ask you to just relax, enjoy yourselves and get to know one another.

We especially hope that you enjoy our unique and warm Fijian hospitality.

On behalf of the Fijian Government and the Fijian people, I ask you all to now raise your glasses and join me in a toast:

To a mutually beneficial partnership between the ACP-EU member states now and in the years to come.
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please enjoy the rest of the evening.

Vinaka vakalevu, thank you.
