PM opens nursing station12/19/2013

Government has made good on its commitment to bringing health services closer to the people of Raviravi on the island of Beqa.

This after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama officially commissioned the newly built Raviravi Nursing Station yesterday.

Prime Minister Bainimarama reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring the 900 villagers on the islands of Beqa and Yanuca received immediate medical services when needed.

“This nursing station will serve the 900 or so members of five villages including the island of Yanuca in getting health services.

He added that two villages from the Tikina of Sawau, Naceva and Naseuseu would also be able to access health services from the new nursing station.

He also thanked the Mataqali Matalevu for giving their land for the construction of the nursing station and called for the people’s assurance to help the health officials that would be stationed on the island.

“Government hopes that this nursing station will be looked after, along with the nurse who will be chosen to serve the people of this island,” he said.

District staff nurse Miliana Daunikamakama who will be the nurse stationed at Raviravi Nursing Station said that she was excited to work at the new facility.

“I am very happy to be here today and I am sure that this new nursing station will greatly assist me in my work to provide nursing to the people of Beqa,” she said.

Ms Daunikamakama also praised the Government for the construction of the facility.
